- Experience of Ancient Rome - ascend the Capitoline Hill and visit the Forum. After a refreshing 'gelato' you also visit the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, Pantheon and the Catacombs of the Appian Way.
- Vatican & Tivoli Experience - Enjoy a guided tour of St Peter's Basilica and the Papal apartments and dungeons of Castel Sant'Angelo. Then drive up to the stunning water gardens of the Villa d'Este in Tivoli. Lunch is included. h
- Florence Experience - Visit the Accadamia Museum and Uffizi Gallery to view some of the most famous artworks in the world, including Michelangelo's 'David'. After a walking tour to the Cathedral and Signoria Square wind down with an 'aperitivo' and Tuscan 'crostini'. h
- Venice Experience - A private guided tour of the most significant structures around St Mark's square - the Basilica, Doge's Palace, Bridge of Sighs and prisons. Then take lunch on the island of Burano.
- Lucerne Experience - A guided sightseeing tour of Lucerne's Old Town and covered bridges is followed by an ascent of Mt Pilatus by cable car. Descend by the steepest cogwheel railway in the world and return to Lucerne via a lake cruise.

Day 1 - ROME. |
Welcome to Rome! Insight's Airport Shuttle Service departs Rome's Fiumicino Leonardo da Vinci Airport for your tour hotel at 09:30, 12:30 & 15:30. Tonight, join us for a Welcome Drink.

Days 2 & 3 - ROME. |
First up, an included orientation drive shows you many of Rome's top highlights to help you plan your sightseeing. Alight outside the Colosseum. From here Rome's archaeological wealth lies before you. Walk in the steps of Julius Caesar or take the modern day Metro, which will whisk you to other parts of the city.
As twilight descends, Rome's monuments, squares and churches take on a different character. For a romantic view over the city at sunset head for Pincio Gardens or join the locals for a promenade around the illuminated Piazza Navona? |
Day 4 - ROME - FLORENCE. |
Ascend the Apennine mountains to Assisi, a stone-built town sprawling over the steep hillside. Perhaps visit the basilica to see the frescoes of Giotto? Continue through the vineyards of the Chianti region to Renaissance Florence.

Day 5 - FLORENCE. |
his morning accompany your Tour Director to Santa Croce square in the city centre. The tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo are located in the adjoining Basilica, a great place to launch your exploration of the city. Everything is easily reached on foot. The choice is yours, but don't miss the museums and galleries housing some of the world's most famous works of art.(BB) |
Day 6 - FLORENCE - VENICE. |
Leave Florence and head for Italy's gastronomic capital of Bologna. See Giambologna's Neptune Fountain and the Old Town. Time to savour the local specialties in the trattorias and ristoranti before continuing to your hotel on the trendy Venice Lido.

Day 7 - VENICE. |
Sit back in your private launch and enjoy your introduction to this unique city of palaces, canals and gondolas. Disembark near the Bridge of Sighs before standing in awe at the marble arcades of Piazza San Marco. You could spend the rest of the day right here if you like; the Basilica of St Mark, belltower and Doges' Palace are all worth a visit. Or you may prefer to lose yourself in the back lanes and small squares known as 'campi'. (BB)
As evening falls, and the day-trippers have returned to the mainland, you could board a vaporetto (waterbus) and return to St Mark's Square where music fills the air and stars fill the sky. What ever you do, Venice by night is just magical! |
Day 8 - VENICE - LUCERNE. |
Head for the resort of Lugano, amidst the beautiful Lake District. Continue into the heart of the Swiss Alps, passing through the Saint Gotthard Tunnel, then alongside towering mountains and past rushing torrents, down to scenic Lake Lucerne. On arrival, see Lucerne's proud Lion Monument, dedicated to the Swiss Guards massacred defending
the King during the French Revolution.

Day 9 - LUCERNE. |
Use your free time to to shop for chocolate or a Swiss watch, stroll across the covered Chapel Bridge and see the baroque Jesuit church.
