Dangers in the Pipeline
Cancer is one of the top causes of death in the world. However, many urinary tract cancers such as prostate, kidney and bladder cancers do not present themselves with many symptoms in its early stages. It is thus a challenge for specialists to detect these cancers early and offers timely treatment to achieve a better outcome.
Prostate cancer risks increase after age 50 and at least three in every four cancers are diagnosed in males aged 65 and over.
Early prostate cancers can present with difficult, painful or frequent urination, sensation of incomplete emptying, weak urinary stream, blood in the urine or semen. More often, they have no symptoms and only present with raised prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood test results. Our prostate cancer screening package aims to detect more early prostate cancers that are potentially curable.
Kidney and Bladder cancers are two other common urinary tract cancers. One out of three patients with such cancers present late have poor survival rates. They are commonly present with blood in the urine, either visible to naked eyes or only detected by microscopic examination. Up to once in 10 patients can be diagnosed of cancer with blood in the urine as the only symptom. Our haematuria (blood in urine) package offers investigations to detec these potentially life-threatening diseases for early prevention and treatment.
