Overview:
This is an introduction to Brunei’s unique wilderness rainforest region.
The Ulu Temburong National Park is protected and preserved for scientific research and low impact visitors. This day excursion is a short immersion in this amazing environment, for people with limited time. An amazing snapshot of an environment that is well protected for all to see. You will travel by local water taxi from Bandar through a network of rivers and channels around the back of Brunei Bay.
You’ll pass by dense mangrove islands and possibly see wildlife that may be enjoying the early morning sun rays along the way. The journey will continue you from Bangar, the regional capital of Temburong, to Batang Duri (the end of the road). After morning tea, travel upstream through the rapids of the Temburong River using traditional longboats, to the National Park entrance. At treetop level you can enjoy the panoramic view of the rainforest unfolding in front of you.
Enjoy a great lunch of local specialties besides the river, swim and relax, before returning back downstream by longboat or inflatable raft to Rainforest Lodge for afternoon tea and freshen up. Depart from our Terminal building to Bangar to catch a Water Taxi back to Bandar Seri Begawan.

WHAT TO BRING
- Comfortable clothing that can get wet or dirty.
- A change of dry clothes for the trip home (optional)
- Lots of sun protection.
- Old shoes (that can get wet and dirty) with a good grip for walking over slippery ground.
- Swimmers and a small towel
- Camera – plus lots of films
- An effective sun hat (preferably with chin strap)
- Some small snacks if you think you’ll get hungry on the route (please don’t drop the wrappers).
- Plastic bags to waterproof your valuable items (e.g. camera) on the river trips
- Your favorite insect repellent
- Your sense of adventure

- You will be in the outdoors all day. The environment may be affected by heat, cold, rain, and sun. The river could be high or low depending upon recent rainfalls. The program may need to adjust to these conditions and the interests/abilities of your group. Our staff will advise you of the current conditions and whether these might alter your schedule, if necessary.

- Life jackets, helmets, other safety equipment, and activity operating practices are all in line with recognized international standards.
- Temburong is remarkably free of biting insects and most people don’t use any insect repellent. But some people are more susceptible than others, so bring your favorite insect repellent that works for you.
